Complexity of LIfe in Basic Research and Innovation (COLIBRI) is an interfaculty initiative founded in 2019 to study complex systems. By understanding the complexity and interactions between components of living systems, we will prepare for future changes in the biosphere and sociosphere. The research of this future topic, which with our focus on systems of biological and social life is not found in the Austrian university landscape in this form, will thus become a unique selling point and be established internationally. To this end, existing expertise at the University of Graz will be bundled and strengthened synergistically.
