COLIBRI Fellowships

Short-term visiting fellowship

A COLIBRI short-term fellow will visit the University of Graz for a period of several weeks (usually 4 weeks) in order to conduct joint research with a COLIBRI host and potentially also with other COLIBRI members. The host will provide the fellow an appropriate workspace (and if applicable lab space) to conduct joint research. A COLIBRI short-term fellowship is usually aimed at achieving specific objectives, like (non-exhaustive list):

  • Writing of a grant proposal associated with COLIBRI collaboratively, or
  • Conducting COLIBRI-related research collaboratively, or
  • Writing of a scientific paper collaboratively

Within the period of the stay the fellow is expected to give a blocked teaching course with a total teaching load of 2 weekly hours (equivalent to 2 credits or 4 ECTS) at the host’s institution and several lectures/seminar talks/colloquia talks at other COLIBRI member’s institutions (upon invitation).

Selection procedure:

The fellowship is based on an initial proposal developed by a COLIBRI P.I. (the COLIBRI host), there is no open application procedure for third parties. It is an invitation-only Fellowship targeted exclusively to excellent world-class scientists (the COLIBRI fellow) within the field of complexity research within the thematic scope of COLIBRI.

The host will develop a concept of the stay and submit it to the COLIBRI BoS (Board of Speakers). Only COLIBRI P.I.s can act as hosts. The BoS will decide upon the proposal and notify the host about the application result within 4 weeks. The details of the travel will be then handled by the COLIBRI host.

Support received by the COLIBRI fellow:

COLIBRI will cover the travel costs and reimburse a bulk sum of 1000 Euro per week of the stay. Maximum stay time is 6 weeks, minimum stays are 2 weeks.
